It’s during the busiest times of life that we all need to remember to just slow down. Sounds blasphemous, am I right? But the sad reality is – we mere humans are way too accustomed to the “go go go,” “can’t stop, won’t stop,” and “I don’t know how to say ‘no'” lifestyles. Guys, this is completely nuts!
We’re human. We require things that go beyond taking bathroom and lunch breaks. We require time and space just to be human.
It’s really incredibly hard when reality slaps you across the face. When there are aspects of life that you shouldn’t be ignoring but you try to avoid it because you just do not have time to deal with it. A healthy lifestyle – who has time for that when you’re working 40+ hours a week at a desk job and then 20+ hours a week after-hours on your own passions? Making time for friends. Meeting new people. Planning designated breaks/vacations/time off – this is almost unheard of for the few of us balancing a career AND a small business!
The big take away here is that we all need to do a little bit better about taking care of ourselves. Whether it’s learning how to say “no” more often, creating opportunities in your schedule for time off, or redistributing tasks so you can make more time to take care of your mental, physical, and emotional needs. It’s programmed within ourselves to constantly say “yes” and to give all of yourself into your tasks and passions. I think we all need to learn how to be a bit more selfish and to think about ourselves more often.
