Q&A with Steph Parker Photo | Fun Friday

Guess what, guys? IT’S FRIDAY!!! The best day of the week and in honor of it being Friday, I wanted to celebrate with a Fun Friday post with you! There’s been a fun movement on Instagram with The Rising Tide Society and one of the things we like to do is post a #fridayintroductions to give our followers a look into the life of the person posting all the pretty content. In honor of that, I wanted to post a mini Q&A about me!

1. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

2010 - Arenal Rainforest, Costa Rica

Somewhere on the Coast for sure! I’ve never been before, but I think the PNW (Pacific Northwest) would be pretty cool. And I love going to the Carolinas. If I had the opportunity to go somewhere more exotic, I’d pick Costa Rica or an island in the Caribbean – so peaceful and remote.

2. What’s your favorite food or drink?

I LOVE Mexican food! I could seriously live off of chips & salsa and tacos! North Star has a mean chicken burrito and Condados in the Short North is the bomb.com. Drinks? It depends on my mood. Jack & Coke, wine, and strawberry margaritas are my go-tos.

3. What’s your favorite book/movie/TV show?

I have a very eclectic taste in TV shows. Here are just a few of my favorites: Gilmore Girls, Code Black, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, The Tudors, and Naruto/Naruto Shippuden. If I had to pick just ONE movie, I’d say Pride & Prejudice (Keira Knightly version, of course). AND then I’d pick Naruto: the Last as a close second because I’ve recently become obsessed with the TV series! I have watched all of the English dubbed episodes of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden from start to finish – twice – in the past six months. That’s over 500 twenty-minute episodes (twice through). And I may or may not be watching it all over … again … right now. Recently, I’ve also been on a huge Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron kick … and yes, that’s a kid’s movie from the 90s.

4. What makes you laugh?

Easiest question ever – Clark. Clark, the cutest dog in the whole world, is my 11 month old Chiweagle puppy. Basically, he’s a mutt and the most interesting breed mix EVER! Dachshund, Chihuahua and Beagle = adorable mini beagles! I definitely laugh the hardest when Clark tries so hard to play with his kitto-sisters and they want nothing to do with him. Whenever he wants your attention, he’ll sit on his butt and pull his front paws up like a meerkat!

5. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

As a young child: a teacher, a dance instructor, a doctor, and then a jockey. When I got a bit older: an interior designer, an author, a journalist and then lastly, a graphic designer. Coincidentally, as a 24 (almost 25) year old, I am pursuing work as a graphic designer in the 9-5 world, while writing my comedic memoir in the evenings to keep my dream of being an author alive. AND we can’t forget all the nights I spend editing photos and writing blog posts for my photography business. This is the life of a professional millennial. Just sayin’.

6. Describe yourself in 5 words.

Artistic. Driven. Stubborn. Storyteller. Passionate.

7. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Ideally, running this business full-time and loving life as a wedding photographer! I would love to be living in my forever home, one that is filled with love, family, lots of memories, and lots of camera equipment. I would love to be married to a wonderful man with a few kids by then, but good things happen in time. I also hope to have published my first book as an author – the comedic memoir of my young adult life. Trust me, it’ll be a best seller 😉

8. What’s your favorite photo that you’ve ever captured at a wedding? Yes, just one.

These elements are the most important to me in selecting a “favorite” image: drama, color, and emotion. This photo I took at a styled shoot early this summer at Warwick Farms and shooting Rex & Candice on top of this westward facing hill at sunset was a dream come true! This is truly a photo that I can never recreate. When a photo’s special like this, it can never be replaced or redone. Photos like this remind me of how far I’ve come and yet how much farther I have to go.

Thanks so much for reading! Like most women, I consider myself to be fairly complex (HA!) and I had to really reel myself in on the Q&A to keep just a bit of mystery about myself.
