Aloha, Mr & Mrs Banks!
It seems so crazy that I’m still sharing blogs about 2017 weddings when my 2018 wedding season is beginning in just a few short weeks! Guess it’s time to knock out these last four wedding posts 🙂 Next up is the Banks wedding!
Bernard and Aolani were one of my first 2017 couples to book their date and from the moment I met them, I loved their relationship. Both Bernard and Lani are quiet, yet passionate individuals and the way they care for each other is truly special. I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with them, getting to know them and watching their relationship take the next step into marriage.
On October 6, 2017, Bernard and Lani were married at Brookshire Event Venue. It was a beautiful, early fall day and it couldn’t have gone any better! Their ceremony went rather unconventionally (the officiant had them share their first kiss prior to exchanging rings and vows – oops!), but the hiccup made the whole event unique and memorable. The photos I took during the ceremony are some of my favorite ceremony images ever captured! And then during the reception, the best man sang while Bernard & Lani shared their first dance. The whole day was just filled with special events. There was certainly no lack of love on this day! I couldn’t have asked for a better couple work with or a better wedding day to photograph.
Here are the three things I enjoyed most about the Banks’ wedding!
- Bernard & Lani’s devotion to their family and friends. Quite a few out-of-town family members were in attendance for their wedding and it was so special to see some of their family customs in action. Bernard and Lani purposefully picked their wedding date to ensure a majority of their family could attend.
- Speaking of family customs – this is definitely a wedding I consider to be multicultural! Bernard & Lani ‘jumped the broom’ after Bernard’s father’s speech and Lani’s parents paid tribute to their special day by performing a traditional Hawaiian song and hula dance at the reception. All of these special and cultural traditions truly made Bernard & Lani’s wedding day unique and heartfelt.
- Tristan Handley second shot for me for the first time and I’m so grateful she was available at last minute to help me shoot this wedding! She did a great job and made sure to keep me calm whenever I started to get a little scatterbrained.
Thanks to the following vendors for making this day possible:
