GTFO Workshop: New Friends & Couples Portraits
Back in March, I had the extreme honor of attending a workshop put on by four of my favorite local wedding photographers. Yeah, you read that right. March. I’m only eight or so months behind in getting these images edited and blogged. Better later than never, right?!
The GTFO Workshop is the brainchild of Chris Bowman, Brian Gluys, Jenn Johnson, and Paul Woo. If you aren’t following these guys, YOU NEED TO BE! Following their work and taking part in their workshop have inspired me in ways I can’t put into words. Since the workshop in March, I’ve noticed so much growth in my work and in how I operate my business. Signing up for the GTFO Workshop was one of the BEST investments I’ve made in myself and my business this year!
On day 1 of the workshop, we started with a focus on education. Some of the best parts of the morning were when we played “real or not real” with Brian and when Paul lined out his process for booking destination weddings and all about his travels. After some learning (and FOOD!), four couples arrived and we broke up into small groups. It was great to have the opportunity to add to our portfolios and put into action some of the concepts we’d discussed earlier in the day! But it was also an amazing opportunity to watch each photographer lead a couple through a set of prompts, to see how they worked with a REAL couple! That was the most invaluable experience they gave us.
On day 2, we met up at an AirBnb in the German Village and Jenn taught us ALL about boudoir and we were even allowed a sneak peek in how Jenn shoots a real boudoir shoot! Boudoir is something I’ve been wanting to get more experience photographing and it’s definitely something I’m looking forward in exploring more. Also on day 2, Chris went through his Lightroom process and gave us valuable tips on how to keep our gear in tip-top shape! We spent the rest of the day photographing, networking, and drinking cocktails Jenn’s boyfriend made for us. Throughout the weekend, we joked about getting tacos (and I definitely wasn’t joking – I’m always down for tacos). But alas, we all enjoyed a few too many cocktails and opted for pizza delivery instead. But I couldn’t have imagined a better way to wrap up a great weekend!
And now, only eight months late, I’m super pumped to finally have edited all of my favorites from the portrait shootout on day 1! And kudos to the group pic from Brian! I’m so excited for the GTFO reunion next week 🙂
