Rain Couldn’t Stop Their Love

Hello friends! It’s been a long while, but I’m finally ready to get back on the blogging horse and there’s no better place to start than to blog my last 2018 engagement session!

Rachel and I met almost ten years ago when we both worked at American Eagle. Yes, another AE wedding! At this rate, I’m the official wedding photographer of the AE Polaris team (est. 2010-2014). Over the years, Rachel and I stayed Facebook friends and I watched as she shared bits from college life at OU. A big part of that was her relationship with Kyle. They moved back to Columbus after graduating from college and he proposed at the family beach vacation this summer. I was so excited to see photos from their proposal and equally as excited when Rachel reached out about me photographing their wedding!

To top it off, I swooned so hard when Rachel shared that they had booked their dream wedding venue: Magnolia Hill Farm. Magnolia Hill is a brand new wedding venue in Central Ohio and the wonderful creation of an amazing husband and wife wedding photography team, Ashley & Coty Henry. I’ve been watching their Instagram like a hawk for updates on getting the venue built and *sigh* I literally CANNOT WAIT!

For their engagement session, we knew we wanted to wait til the last possible minute to get the beautiful fall colors on the trees. As is typical in Ohio, this fall we were met with one of the wettest, rainiest falls to date. I feared we wouldn’t even get a true fall at all. Add into the mix, that it was scheduled to rain ALL WEEKEND during their engagement session. Thanks to our quick thinking, we moved up our start time and were able to squeeze in their session before most of the rain set in. All this being said – I love photographing on a drizzly day! It just adds something special and unique to the day and I’m so thankful that Kyle & Rachel felt the same way!

We started off at Sharon Woods Metro Park and then ventured into Uptown Westerville. We explored Uptown’s newest record shop, Spinning Disc Records, and Kyle found TWO albums he’d been searching for! Next up, we hit up Schneider’s for some donuts because it’s not a trip to Uptown otherwise! Not only did these guys buy me a donut, they also bought me ice cream at Graeter’s when we finished up their session! Food is obviously always the way to win my heart.

Their fall wedding next year can’t come fast enough! Until then, swoon with me over their engagement photos 🙂
