Into the New Year
Here we are, the first full week of January! I’ve been thinking long and hard about what steps I want to take in 2019 to better myself and my business so why not share them publicly to make myself more accountable?
One of the things I want to really focus on in 2019 is BALANCE. Not only do I need to find a healthy balance between my personal and professional lives, but I’m also striving to find a definite balance in photographing, not only for my couples, but for myself more frequently. Over the last year or so, I’ve found myself shooting for fun less and less. Let’s be real. If I’m not shooting for fun, am I ever going to get any better at it? Probably not. In order to find more joy in photography and to further my skills, it’s my goal to go out and shoot for myself at least once a month. I’m also going to begin experimenting more with shooting film which I’m really excited about!
2019 Business Goals:
Slow down and look at the entire scene
Focus even more on finding unique lighting and situations
Take big leaps and get more creative / look beyond the norm
Continue looking for & embracing authentic moments
Fine-tune the website and portfolio
Spend time on SEO
2019 Personal Goals:
Spend more time working on personal projects / go out and shoot for fun
Practice yoga 4-5x a week
Eat less takeout (this one is going to be sooooo hard!)
Be more present and take more breaks
Declutter and simplify my home life
All in all, in 2019 I want to continue pursuing personal happiness above all else. Whether that means slowing down and enjoying life more often or taking some personal time to go on adventures or photographing more amazing weddings, I’m going to do it. To me, being personally happy means that I’m making moves to be a better person. And that to me is the biggest goal of all. Happy New Year’s, friends!
